The word 'Brut' originated from the Art Brut movement in France, and is an apt description of the raw, original and essential elements of Brut Cake products. 'Cake' evokes images of the simple pleasures and happiness in life.
Inspired by the Art Brut concept, Brut Cake is devoted to bringing functional art into everyday living. The interrelationship between people and each of Brut Cake’s handcrafted object lays the foundation for thoughtful living.

About Chinese Old Fabric
Brut Cake’s fabric products are made of Chinese old fabrics.
The Chinese old fabrics we use are antique cloth mostly from Southeast China, hand-woven more than 20 years ago with natural cotton. People use 72 complex production processes to ensure these fabrics are strong and durable. You can feel their special charm simply by touching them.
Brut Cake only crafts old fabric items in limited quantities. We use the simplest designs to represent the raw beauty of old fabrics, and echo the humble yet powerful beauty inherent in these interwoven fabric strips. Also, we are mashing up Chinese old fabrics with other materials to create various and featured design.
Hand-made Ceramics
Brut Cake’s ceramic works are mostly handcrafted. We love simple and imperfect creations, and every piece of pottery art from Brut Cake comes with its own unique personality. A portion of unglazed clay brings the feel of soil and nature earth, and an artist fingerprint expresses her spirit.
A large portion of Brut Cake creation incorporates delightful hand-painted images, which brings life to each and every piece created.
Brut Cake also delight in mixing different materials to expand our horizons, and explore new possibilities for pottery making.
